PMP EXAM Preparation Tips

Hi Prasanna, I Have cleared PMP exam on (17/Jul/2010). Yes, I have couple of things to share with respect to exam preparation

As a first step I would recommend people to have a study plan and Target date before starting to prepare for the PMP exam

1. Materials Used

I used below materials for my preparation:

a. Premium Prepcast
b. PMBOK 4th Edition
c. Andy Crowe
d. Kim Heldman
e. Rita Mulcahy

2. Reference Site/ Materials Referred

Below are the list web sites / materials which made me understand few concepts easily:

a. Deep Fried Brain : http://www.deepfriedbrain.com/Deep_Fried_Brain/Home.html
b. PMHub : http://www.pmhub.net/
c. JIMBOK : From PMHUB Forums

3. Mock Test

My suggestion would be to take at least 5-6 full time (4 hrs) mock test before the actual PMP exam so that it would increase your confidence level and also you can plan for number of breaks during the actual PMP exam

I would recommend few mock tests

a. Head's First test
b. Oliver Lehmann test
c. Andy Crowe test
d. Kim Heldman test
e. Rita Mulcahy test

4. Lessons Learnt
Actually I had a confusion as to which way should I prepare for the exam. Should I prepare Knowledge Area or process Groups wise.

My Suggestion would be, you can prepare either whichever is comfortable and easy for you to understand things. It does not make any difference.
